Shannon is a native of Colorado. He and his wife, Doris, owned their own sporting goods store in Woodland Park for many years. So he brought lots of retail experience and product knowledge to our shop. Being a native of Colorado, of course, he fly fished! Thinks it was early 1980s when he really got the bug! One cold day Doris said "no more snow". Shannon responded, "Okay, we’ll move as long as there is fly fishing". The rest is history. Shannon joined River Run shortly after we opened in 1999, and is the glue that keeps the shop running. Shannon teaches most of the fly tying class and created the Primrose & Pearl Midge a couple years ago. It has been a winner not only in Taneycomo but many other streams throughout the country. He loves to guide whenever we will let him out of the shop.

Our question to each of our guides: what do you enjoy the most about guiding?

Shannon: "Teaching new people and watching their face light up on their first fish!"
